WEATHER: Weekly Photography Challenge
This week when we asked our Facebook community to suggest a theme for our weekly photography challenge the theme of WEATHER was suggested by Heather Simpson and supported by quite a few others – so this week that’s your challenge, to take and share an image on that theme.
We all have weather but it’ll be interesting to see the different conditions we’re all facing at the moment. Here in Melbourne we just celebrated the Winter Solstice and many of you are in the height of Summer…. so lets get to it. Take an image that shows some aspect of the weather you’re currently living in whether it be rain, sun, hail, snow, storms, humidity….
Hopefully we’ll get some shots with real atmosphere – moody rainy days, brooding storm clouds, magestic lightening strikes, happy sunny days, peaceful snowy landscapes…. the sky is literally the limit!
Once you’ve taken your “Weather” image, upload it to your favourite photo sharing site and either share a link to it below or embed it in the comments using the our new tool to do so. Please note it sometimes takes us a while to approve comments with images as there’s a moderation queue – particularly over the weekend.
If you tag your photo on Flickr, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag it as #DPSWEATHER to help others find it. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.

We’ve had a lot of rain over the last week and some severe storms too. Here’s a shot from a storm front blowing in earlier in the week.

Not sure my first post went through, so let’s try it again… Please delete the first if duplicated.

We’ve had quite a bit of rain and severe weather over the last week. Here’s a shot of an approaching storm that brought some high winds and about 2″ of rain at the beginning of the week.

Matthew, I just wanna say, I lived in Fort Irwin, CA for two years and the pictures I got from the desert were some of the most beautiful yet. You can do it! But yes. haha it DOES get hot!! It was unbearable. It was the upper 120′s during the summers. UGH! We left as soon as we could and now live in Hawaii… and let me say, I’ve definitely gotten some great ones here.
Hopefully I’ll get the chance to post a picture into this assignment. Been traveling to and from WV for about a month and I’ve just been so busy!
Haven’t really had the chance to get the camera out!

Hi everyone – I’m new. I’m trying to get used to my digital SLR and would love to learn more about photography through these forums. First, I hope I can figure out how to properly upload a picture of the correct size! Anyway, there was one large storm cloud in an otherwise very clear sky at sunset one night. I quickly grabbed my camera and took a picture. I probably violated a million rules and the picture is a little dark (I did want it to be dark), but I’m reasonably happy with it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a photo of the lightening crossing within the cloud, but I did get the airplane.

I’m going to try this again, since my link didn’t seem to work. Can you tell I’m new to this? I also hope it’s okay to add more than one picture. I’m just indecisive and couldn’t pick which one I should post. I’d like to add that I really don’t know how to use photoshop (I have an ancient version of Elements and still don’t know how to use it), so what I get is what I get. Someday, maybe I’ll learn how to fix my photos
Storm cloud during sunset. Believe it or not, it was one of only a couple clouds in the sky. I did see lightening in it, but couldn’t catch a picture of it.

This rain pic was taken last weekend as I was driving home. I had been watching the weather for 2 hours on the road, and saw many opportunities, but this was one I just couldn’t pass up. The sunset reflecting off the rain caused something I’d never seen before…pink rain.
