RED: Weekend Photography Challenge - Digital Photography School

RED: Weekend Photography Challenge

This week’s weekend photography challenge is simple – it all revolves around RED.

I’ve set myself this kind of challenge a number of times over the year – nominate a colour and then go crazy looking for and photographing objects of that colour.

I started doing it after coming into contact with a photographer who had an obsession with GREEN – the obsession led to an amazing collection of colors that stands out in my memory today as one of the coolest things I’ve seen for a while.

OK – so I’m nominating ‘RED’ as the colour and can’t wait to see the hundreds (if not more) of Fire Engines, Apples, Lipstick covered lips, Roses and portraits of Red heads!

Once you’ve taken your photos – choose your best 1-2, upload them to your favorite photo sharing site and share a link to them here in comments below.

If you tag your photos on Flickr, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSRED to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.

    HI All,

I'm new to this site and forum. First post. Just found this challenge and happened to have a shot from last weekend that applies.

Hope you like it. This is out in the desert in Arizona. Bonus bragging points for anyone who knows the location. (Hint, it's only a few miles from the river). I actually got several good captures there.

I am new to ths so please forgive me and if needed and can, set me straight, and also I am not sure which FORUM I should address these comments.
Firstly, I was of the opinion the RED assignment was for photos to be taken from the time of the announcement to closing.
Secondly, and more importantly, is there a location where the the entire collection of submissions can be viewed as "thumbnails"?
I am finding these assignments a real stimulus to get to know your camera.

These two pictures were taken at home in my lounge room. I hope you like the photo's. This was my first time taking photo's of candles. Be kind with you remarks but be truthful first.

Road trip from Upstate NY to Washington DC. I got to take a lot of pics across, but these were some of my favorite "reds." I believe they were both taken somewhere in PA. This is a good argument for GPS tagging. LOL

Both photos were also tagged with #DPSRED.

I also posted a few I got of an awesome rainbow on Flickr. Comments are always welcome and criticism is appreciated.

Here's one taken last year (sorry) and posted on my blog last April (sorry again). Would have wanted to include something relatively new but my PC is not functioning too well and to post process and upload a new image would take ages. Will do better next time, I promise.

Red tailed hawks are rather fine birds, and quite famous in New York City around central park. But this is a Read Tail I saw in Otsego county in New York state, a little west of the Catskills.

Here are two Red’s that I just took. They fit the theme perfectly. As a mater of fact, after I had posted both of these (one after the other) I realized that I had a short red theme going. I’ve posted them in “Share Your Shots” so you may recognize them.

We have quite a few heritage listed buildings in our town.
At the moment an old department store in town is having major renovations, a part of which is getting rid of the facade constructed some time ago, which covers the original facades of the multiple buildings turned into one.
The colouring of these tiles struck me when looking at the bland colours that surrounded them.
