In Luis’ words:

“The very dark coalsack nebula is the head of the bird, one of the stars of Crux, the Southern Cross makes the eye. The neck is formed by Alpha & Beta Centauri and the body is at Scorpius and Sagitarius.

In the Month of March the Milky Way rises almost vertically from the horizon as seen from the South Hemisphere and it’s a great sight for star gazers.

Photo made stitching several photos using a tracking mount, an extra shot without tracking was taken for the Aloe Forest at the bottom.
