Win $50,000 to go Anywhere in the World and Photograph Anything with Lenovo
Do you have a Dream Photographic Assignment?
What if I told you that there’s a chance to make your dream a reality? Read on to find out how….
I’m excited today to announce a new partnership between Lenovo and Digital Photography School that launches today.
The partnership centers around a great competition that they’re running – The Name Your Dream Assignment competition.
Prizes
You can win a $50,000 cash award (to make your dream assignment a reality) plus lots of goodies including a Lenovo ThinkPad W700 notebook computer with Windows Vista, specially designed for photographers.
Submit Your Dream Assignment
The Name Your Dream Assignment organizers are inviting anyone to submit an idea for a never-done-before photo shoot. Everyone will have a chance to vote on their favorite idea, and a panel of judges (including me!) will select from the top 20 most creative and inspiring suggestions.
This is a wonderful chance for starting photographers to enter the profession and to be recognized for their photography accomplishments through their creativity and imagination, rather than just their connections. It is the idea that counts. You don’t need to be a pro photographer, or even to have a portfolio. All you need is a dream.
Register for Further Details
The competition starts on 3rd March but in the mean time you can head to the Name Your Dream Assignment page to register your name and email address to get updates and information on full competition details and a reminder of when the competition opens.
So share your dream and maybe it will come true and Good Luck!
PS: you can follow further developments of this competition using Twitter and Facebook at:

Update – numerous people have been asking if this competition is open to Non US residents. Unfortunately it seems that this first one that they are running is not. This will change with the next one. Here’s the official statement from Lenovo:
Tags: Competition, Contest, LenovoWe’re psyched to have such a great response to the Name Your Dream Assignment from all over the world. And honestly, we’re shocked. This is the first-time we have attempted a contest on this scale and we had no idea what kind of interest we’d get in the U.S., let alone around the world.
Unfortunately, this being our first contest, we had to limit it to residents of the United States. Different countries have much different rules and legal hurdles for contests, and we didn’t want to go there without first gauging the interest of photographers at a national level. However, now that we have seen the incredible support and interest in the Name Your Dream Assignment, we’re working on developing Name Your Dream Assignment II… which will, be open to international residents.
We absolutely want our friends abroad to participate in the Name Your Dream Assignment by still voting, commenting and having their voices be heard within all the conversations. Please let us know if you have any further questions or comments. Thanks again for your support and participation.

The “Name Your Dream Assignment page” link doesn’t work for me. It goes to a DoubleClick page which doesn’t load.

The address of DoubleClick is very unappealing. Ok, for a $50,000 prize somebody has to put up some money, but I, for one, don’t want to start out by sending anything to DoubleClick, especially my email address. DoubleClick doesn’t sound like a very legitimate address for anything but getting spammed with advertising. Sorry, I’ll pass on this one.,

Is this only for American? Could anyone from other countries join in?
January 27th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
Mike – doubleclick (owned by Google) have nothing to do with this except that they are the system we’re using to host the banners on this site – they’ve nothing to do with anything other than serving the images you see in our header and sidebar. The competition is held in partnership with Lenovo – a reputable laptop brand.

I’m not excited yet – I want to be, but need to see the rules of entering first. I’m an American in Thailand. Maybe they won’t let me join? Always some crazy rules in the details, you know? Otherwise, I’ll get started on a groovy idea. Does anyone know where to find contest rules yet?

Saw this on the Site yesterday and instantly signed up.
Joined the group on flickr as well (no link in your post?)
Can’t wait for more details. Like Vern I would love to know more. I’m not even American, so we shall see what the rules will be :)

kalpajeet bhattacharya – I am trying to find a link to the T’s and C’s… If anyone has them, post them.
It says “Anywhere” I’d hope India was included in that :)
