Unlock the Secrets of Using Natural Light with Our New eBook
Today on dPS we’re launching an eBook that I’ve been looking forward to for over a year now – one on the topic of Natural Light.
I’m excited about the eBook for a number of reasons:
- I get emailed by readers all the time asking for a lighting eBook – now we have one!
- Natural light is something that is available to all photographers – and unlike most ‘artificial’ light it costs absolutely nothing
- This PDF eBook is by one of our most popular authors – Mitchell Kanashkevich. And like his other eBooks, this one is beautiful and useful!
You can get full details on what Natural Light is all about here but in short it will help you:
- Understand the essential qualities of natural light
- Master the technical components you’ll need to work with natural light, including exposure, metering, and the histogram
- Learn expert methods to control natural light to suit your creative needs
- Grasp the potential of harsh light, diffused light, fog, twilight, and other settings
- Learn to sculpt light, create light interplay, reveal silhouettes, and more
- Practice professional post-processing techniques to enhance natural light
- Harness the countless creative possibilities that natural light affords
This is a very practical eBook – Mitchell has included 9 great case studies, loads of great images and some excellent diagrams to show you exactly how he approaches the topic.
You’ll come away from reading this ‘seeing’ light in a new way and most importantly approaching your photography in a way that utilises that light to create beautiful images.
To celebrate this new PDF eBook’s launch we’ve offering it for 25% off for a limited time. Instead of the normal price of $19.99 you’ll pick it up today for just $14.99 USD.
Get full details on what Natural Light is all about here or order it directly using the ‘download it now’ button below.

What a gorgeous picture on the book cover. I tried using the light with these flowers and even though I can’t say why I feel I missed out on something.

Jocelyn – to get it on your iPad just download to your computer and then upload to iBooks via syncing your iPad on iTunes.

I downloaded Natural Light onto my PC. After doing a search for the file I clicked on all three files but it would not start. I’m using Windows 7 and have the latest Adobe Reader files. I’ve tried contacting DPS but so far I’ve not had any response. What gives????

Darren,
I’ve begun reading your new book and noticed an issue on page 16. The icons for the different metering modes are incorrectly associated to the descriptions. You’re using Canon icons, and the partial icon is beside spot metering, the center-weighted icon is beside partial metering, and the spot icon is beside center-weighted metering. The description for evaluative has the correct icon beside it.
Just an FYI…something to roll into a future update if you do one. Content is otherwise good so far. Perhaps I’ll comment again when I finish reading the entire book.
Cheers,
–Christopher

Is there any chance you can get the e-books on a Kindle?

@Steff — It’s a PDF, so you can easily send it to your Kindle on your own:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200375630
However, I’m not sure the photos and layout will work very well. If you have a Kindle Fire (or other Android tablet), keep the book in PDF form and use a good reader like “ezPDF Reader” and you’ll get a much better experience from this, and all PDF documents vs. reading them on a Kindle as a Kindle book.
