Take the 10 Meter Photography Challenge Now
Today on Twitter (follow DPS here) I was looking at some of the most recent Tweets from a few photographers and came across this one from @chasejarvis:
“There are at least 10 great pictures within 10 meters of you right now.”
He then linked to one he took on his iPhone to prove the point.
OK – so this seemed like a challenge that I thought might be worth sharing here on DPS.
Your challenge is to grab your nearest camera (could be the one on your phone) and to take up to 10 shots with it within 10 meters of where you are right now.
Once you’ve done that – upload it to your favorite photo-sharing site and share a link to it in comments below.

Great challenge! Granted it was easier for me than some people since I live in a tiny apartment so, at any given moment, am easily less than ten metres away from the majority of my things.

I didn’t take “10 in 10″ but it reminded me of something I read a few years ago… can’t remember who said it, but it was suggested that you load your camera with a 36-exposure roll of film and lock your self in the bathroom (or other small place) and shoot the roll. I’ve done this more than once and it was a great exercise in seeing things that you ordinarily overlook. =)

I always tend to thinking that the best photos just can be taken somewhere far away in a foreign country. Therefore I love the idea of taking a closer look just around you.

A friend and fellow photographer and I used to play the “red light challenge” game, where we’d ride around in her car, and every time we were stopped at a red light, we’d take pictures. While it was frustrating to be stuck in the car and not be able to get the angle you want, the challenge that this posed made it all the more fun.

Thanks for the great challenge – I was in a cafe on Waterloo railway station in London when I read it: lots of interesting subjects around. I was pleased with the picture of two girls, one looking knowingly while the other made a phone call…and not affected just because one of them was from an advert. Pictures here:

Reading this made me laugh since last week I stumbled upon this “challange” all by myself…
Last Tuesday my new macro lens arrived at my office and I was so excited to try it out, I put in on my camera (yes, I brought it to work anticipating that my new lens would arrive and I might have a spare moment to play with it.) Since taking photographs isn’t part of my work, I hid in my office and snapped a few shots… all with in 5 feets of where I was standing. I loved the results…
