The movie was funny but people take the design and upkeep of these people movers pretty seriously. Being able to appreciate the lines and curves of these amazing man-made machines is as equally as important as getting the perfect angles to be able to see them in photographs. Translating power, prestige and property can set your work apart from the next guy. Here’s to the collection of art that can fly like a bird, speed through the country side and transport our kids to school.

As someone who works in downtown New York City, the first picture is kind of chilling to me. Other than that, though, these are great pics. The picture of the train with the old picture overlay is brilliant.

Wow on that top photo, I’ll bet that makes people comfortable in those buildings seeing those planes that low. Perfect timing and good shot though.

The Scarlett Corvette Stingray looks more like a Chevrolet Impala and the Formula 1 does not look like Formula 1 at all.
September 21st, 2011 at 7:27 am
Nice photos, but that is NOT a Corvette Stingray. It looks more like an early 60s pickup

Some really well done car photographs. I think the really tight composition on the red Jaguar works great.
A couple used a first generation 1955-2957 Ford Thunderbird instead of a limo to use for their wedding, which I thought was a very classy choice:

WOW….. Are these pictures taken by Pro?

Clunkers – Would it OK if it is Portrait orientated instead of landscape, since it shows scale?
Empty Train – Would it be OK if the camera move at dead center or slightly to right?
Mysterious station – Would it be ok if I capture the train when it reaches the converging lines (brightest area) at 1/3 vertical area, when the train light on..?
Could It do the same with my only len 18-55mm VR Kit Len Nikon f3.5-5.6?
Just asking for learning purposes

Some wonderful stuff there!
As usual, be careful in some stations and airports as they are private property and you may need permission to shoot. If not you may find yourself being ejected very rapidly by the local police or worse held for questioning.
I have shot in London mainline train stations and despite always obtaining the correct paperwork I once got questioned 5 times in 90 minutes by the station security and local police officers as to why I was shooting in such a crowded, public place. The security people are very jumpy and think anyone with a camera is a threat! Granted one of those times I was questioned was by a nice officer and fellow amateur snapper who wanted to talk about camer kit and shooting styles!!

Indeed Fuzzypiggy, especially in England taking pictures in train stations will give you lots of questions. Usually it’s just not worth it. On the platform it’s usually no problem, but in the main hall it will get you into trouble easily.
As for some train inspiration: Night-shot, long exposure, with a rest of sunset and the help of an urban tripod (parapet): http://wp.me/p1LDRy-3l

Fantastic collection, I’ve got to say my favorite was the relief drop over Haiti until I saw the 1950 buick. I had to wipe the drool off of my keyboard. I think I’m in love with that car.
I love car shows, but don’t often go because it looks more like that clunkers shot, not in quality of the cars, but in how they pack them all together. There’s never enough room to appreciate them.
September 22nd, 2011 at 5:10 am
I realize some of the photo descriptions are not 100% accurate, but I kept them according to the owner’s wording. Sorry about that, but I thought it most fair and the photo was good quality.
Fuzzypig, I totally understand it can be a pain shooting in some place like train station but figured I didn’t need a disclaimer here as most who read this site are adults and able to make those decisions themselves. Regardless, thank you for making the note as it will help some, I’m sure. The irony is, from what I’ve read, they never found surveillance photos from those who bombed the London Underground and bus, Timothy McVey never took pictures of the Oklahoma City Federal Building, etc… Terrorists don’t want to stand out and be suspect. Where as photographers don’t want to bomb things. It’s annoying to be treated like a suspect when the actual terrorists never did what we are doing (blatantly taking photos in a crowded train station because you know what? It looks artistically cool. Not because I want to harm people.). End of my small rant.

The first image, while dramatic, is a composite. A flight path does indeed go over HK harbour but the aircraft are at several thousand feet by then. There has been one recent exception, namely when the Airbus A380 was launched – it was cleared to fly through the harbour (not over Central’s office buildings!) at around one thousand feet – that’s no A380 anyway! Now, if it had been taken in Kowloon City in the old days when Kai Tak Airport was operational, it would have been more believable.

Some of these are awesome, but some of them fall into that old discussion topic of ‘it’s not the photo, it’s the subject’. Many of these are just great subjects taken with point a click technique. Would love to see what some of those would turn out like with a bit more thought put into composition and light etc.
September 23rd, 2011 at 10:40 am
Love the pics but the one identified as a Stingray is not a Stingray. It looks a lot like a ’59 or ’60 Chevy but certainly not a Corvette.

Re composition: Dallas, at least 80% of these photos show good compositional elements. Not necessarily excellent, but at least great. The one which disappoints is the Strathspey Railway. The engine should be just a couple of metres closer, with less ‘nothingness’ to the right. On the other hand, ‘Mysterious Station’ is brilliant.
