How to Use Fit Image in Photoshop – [Video]
Being a big fan of DPS and sharing the same philosophy on photography education, I wanted to share this somewhat hidden Photoshop feature that I used for the longest time in my actions (until Lightroom came along).
It’s called “Fit Image” and it’s quite useful when you want your resized images to have the same number of pixels on their long edge; something “Image Size” can’t do. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

You can do the same thing by specifying a percentage instead of a pixel measurement in “Image Resize” in Photoshop.

Wow – I had no idea you could even do that in PS. This will be very useful (especially for photos I post online).

I was just wondering … If you have a hundred pictures with all the same size (mixed landscape and portrait pictures) … Can’t you just create a action script and with image size go to %. It basicly resizes all your pictures to a certain percentage of the original image. It’s what I do and works quiet well.

Fantastic ! Thank you very much ! I needed to set up an action to do image sizing but was confused about how to use image size to do both landscape and portrait. I could have done it with a script but I wanted something easier – you have saved me a whole lot of research and trouble !

Useful info.
However…..a 5 and a half minute video just to show how to use “fit image”?
I think video blog entries are getting over-used. I’d prefer to see this info in a text blog with a couple of screenshots to illustrate it.

Yeah, I agree with Martin. Also, text blog and screen shots are easier to follow

@daniel: that’ll work if all the source images are the same size. However, if you’ve cropped one/some of the images, then a percentage will not provide the same image size for all images.
