Guess How Many dPS Readers are On Instagram?: POLL RESULTS
Last month’s dPS poll centred on the topic of Instagram and asked readers whether they use the App which was recently acquired by Facebook.
Close to 9000 readers responded and the results are in.

I’m not on instagram, mainly because I get Instagram updates from friends on facebook who post Instagram photos with preset effects and call it photography.

Jessica – Pardon my bluntness but the fact some losers use Instagram and like to call themselves photographers is not a good reason to not use it. By that reasoning, you wouldn’t use Photoshop, Lightroom, virtually every brand/model of camera, and even this website. It should however give you added incentive to use it correctly and show them all what its really about.
I’ve been using instagram more on a regular since I I upgraded my phone[BTW the camera on the HTC Rezound is pretty fantastic.]. I like it because unlike the other social networks like Facebook or Tumblr, it allows me to just browse photographs that the people I follow take. There are fewer random memes, blogs, dramatic statuses, etc. Flickr is the closest thing but its a ghost-town these days and I don’t know of anyone who will post instantly there. So far, its the best photography based social network around in my opinion.

Michael, you do have a point. I have heard that it’s great for following other photographers and such and to be honest, I don’t really know what it’s all about except for what I’ve seen on my facebook. I’ll stick with Lightroom though haha
