Default Inexpensive photo hanging solution

I love photography, and back home I was able to use thumbtacks or tape to hang photos in my room without any issue.. However now being in college, I can't put holes in the wall, or use tape. The only thing we are allowed to use are 3M Command Strips. I needed to come up with some way of effectively displaying my photos... Something that would cover a large area, but be held up by minimal hanging points. Here was my solution...

The Materials needed:

  • 3M Command Hanging Hooks

  • Nylon Rope or Clothesline

  • Clothes Pins

  • For each "level" I cut an 8 foot piece of rope

  • Then I placed the two hooks about 7 feet apart

  • Tie each end of the rope into a loop and adjust the length of the rope with the knot and cut off the extra.

Materials

This alltogether cost me under $10 dollars for the hanging setup. Of course the photos themselves cost money to be printed, but this setup doesn't have to be limited to only photos!

Hey that's pretty creative! I may have to try this out when I'm bored sometime.

Awesome! I've seen something very similar to this, except hanging them in vertical lines. Also, you can use wire/cables and use magnets instead of clips. I totally wanted to do that in my office, but never did. Hmmm....may have to look back into it again. Great job!

Great idea! My great grandma (she's 101!) is in the nursing home and we are always looking for ways to use her space more effectively without tearing up the walls!

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]we are renting and
I've come up with a few solutions not to damage walls.
My fridge (you can't see any white)it's covered in photos.
The wardrobe has a lot of holiday shots.I've only used blutack for that.
I decopaged my coffee table with lotsa photos.
Basically anything you own,
you can be creative and revamp.

That's a great setup! I love Command hooks and use them for everything. Thanks for the inspiration!

I wish I would have realized this when I was in college! My freshman dorm had walls of concrete--so even if we wanted to drive nails into them we couldn't! Good post.

Wow, you can't use TAPE? Wow, my college let us, but I have that same situation now in my apartment. Thanks for the tip! Now I can claim some walls my boyfriend hasn't taken over.
