9. Paint black to mask undesired areas. For this photo, I mask the bottom part of the photo. If you don’t like masking that you just do, you can change foreground color to white and paint on the area you want to recover details.

11. Hold and drag “Background Layer Copy” over the new layer icon in order to duplicate the “Background Layer Copy”.

12. Change a layer style from Lighten to Vivid Light and adjust layer opacity to 20%. This step is for increasing the contrast of light.

Thanks for a great tutorial, bomboman. This is just right to add some interest for the kind of photograph that we all take and they end up looking flat. Sure appreciate the time and effort you have put in to post this tutorial for all of us here.

Could you PLEASE post more adobe photoshop tutorial i have been looking all around the web for somthing like your it was perfect and so very very helpful and easy to understand.thank you sooooo much for sharing that.

Well Son Of A.........I searched and searched for this thread today for about an hour and COULD NOT find it and now here it is just POP and it is here. Going to try this tomorrow. Glad someone found it and brought it back up on top.

Default an improvement ...

thanks for sharing

... great tutorial, congrats ... this is the method i use ... only a difference ... i desaturate de ray of light layer, adjust levels and apply gaussian blur. The result perhaps is more soft.
