I really enjoy looking at HDR images. I have read up on how to create them, but it's alittle different everytime I read an article! I can't find anything on Tone Mapping, or understanding it. I downloaded Picturenaut for free, but I have Photomatrix (free trial) and I have no clue what to do with either of them. I just wanted to know if there was anyone out there willing to type out a step by step tutorial on creating and tone mapping HDR images. I would SO appreciate it:-)

Question.....I have just been starting to shoot in RAW format. I usually shoot in JPEG, because it is much easier for me and I really just wanna get photography and lighting down before I move on to image quality and high tech. technique. I have been shooting my series of pictures in jpeg format and combiding them together for my HDR image. Is this ok? I was reading something that gave me the impression that maybe I should be shooting in RAW instead. Is that just a preference, or is that a necessity when creating an HDR image? I was assuming that if you shot in RAW you would have to create a TIFF or JPEG anyway before combinding the images, so I just shot in jpeg. Is this ok?

The software i use is Dynamic Photo HDR.
They also have a Manual online which is very helpful. You can also create fake HDR to any photo or use it as an editor for underexposed photos. Example: ![]() ![]() Robert Last edited by Robographer; 06-03-2009 at 12:59 PM. |

Yeah you can use jpegs and tiffs and it will still work, but its always better to shoot in raw because you can mess with it afterwards.
