Welcome to the Tutorials section of the DPS forums.
The purposes of this area of our forums are twofold. Firstly - it's a place for members who have learned something about digital photography to share their lessons and teach the rest of us how to do some aspect of photography. Secondly - we hope to use some of the best tutorials posted here in this section on the Digital Photography School Blog so that a wider audience than just our immediate member community can benefit from what you are learning. A Few Guidelines: What To Write About Your tutorials and tips can be on any aspect of digital photography including: • 'How to' posts on different types of photography (eg, 'How to Photograph a Tennis Match' or '10 Tips for Wedding Photographers' • Gear Related Tutorials • Photoshop or Post Production Tutorials and How To articles • Composition or Technique tutorials Really anything that you're learning about photography goes. Self Promotion Feel free to include a little biographical information and a link to your own site, flickr account, blog etc at the bottom of your tutorial. We appreciate you taking the time to share a tutorial with us and would love to share with our readers other work that you do - however please keep the posts you make primarily about the learning and not about the 'selling' of you. Readers are more likely to check out who you are if you help them :-) Copyright If you enter a tutorial here we reserve the right to use it on the DPS blog but will not use it in any other forum or publication without your permission. If we use it on the blog we will use any biographical information that you provide and link to your blog/site/flickr account. We'll credit you as the author and are only too happy to send some traffic your way as a thank you for posting. Moderation As this is a new area of our forum and we're still learning how it will be used - new threads will be moderated before going public. This means that there may be delays once your tutorial has been submitted. Thanks for your patience with this. Please only post original content that is actually yours - don't repost other people's work here. |

Hi I've just joined and can not see any advice on this specific shot. I was just away for the weekend with friends and had an opportunity to take a beautiful shot of the moon rising over a lake, the reflection was stunning. Had everything set up, tried a few settings but couldn't get the shot....Of course all of my friends then became photographers and gave me their worldly advice but none of it was any use. If anyone can help...from JoBloggs, Keen Amateur!

I am brand new to digital photography & just bought my 1st digital camera. I used to be a very serious ameteur photog. using 35mm Nikon SLR's film cameras. Why do the lenses on dig cams only go down to F/8 when 35mm SLR's go down to F/16 or even F/22? More importantly, how do I equate the two. How do I correlate an F stop of F/12 on a 35mm SLR to the lens/apertures on a dig cam? What would an aperture setting of F/4.0 on a dig cam be equivalent to on a 35mm SLR-for example? I usually set my camera to Aperture Priority, unless of course speed is an important factor. So, you can see why I need to learn & understand the differences. Help please.

Hi, I'd move your post but am on my iPhone - you would get a faster response by posting in the right area. That said, welcome! Aperture is aperture is aperture... You will get focal length variance, but nit aperture - the amount of light a lens will let in is the same on digital and film (unless I've been missing something!) the quality of the lens / size of the lens (compact v slr) will change things, but not the absolute values. What camera are you using? (my lenses will happily head up to f/22

question, is marketing and Public relations (business tips) would be allowed? I want to give tips on the importance of having a solid foundation of a brand as a photographer.
