I Thought I`d post one of mine - since everyone was sharing - though I did a composite...

Great tutorial! I gave it a go a few nights ago. Focussing was a real b***h indeed, this was the best one out of the series. Will definitely give it another go on a clear night.

I posted this in the SYS section but thought I would share here since this thread is what gave me the knowledge to take the photographs. The first shot is taken as it is rising above the mountain behind my house and the second is about 5 minutes later. As you can see I lowered the ISO, shortened the shutter time, and stopped down a bit to compensate for more light after it had completely risen. Thanks to those that shared their knowledge here because I would have totally overexposed it if it werent for all of the great tips.

OK,
here's my hand held, auto-focused full moon (3 strikes, according to the tutorial!)

This was taken with my 7D and EF 70-300mm lens (at 300 mm). f/11 1/250 s, ISO 200. I guess the edges are wobbly due to atmospheric distortion!

I did pay attention to the bit about contrast. I also did a bit of noise reduction in lightroom.

Any suggestions on how to surmount my lack of tripod problem?

f/8 and 1/500 sec. Same exposure and the shutter speed should be high enough to freeze motion at that focal length as long as you use good technique. And it's not like you need to increase your depth of field.
