This totally made me think of the game Hearts. Sweet shots of the moon though.

Here are my attempts, taken before I found this tutorial.
These were taken on New Year's Eve when, (as some of you might know) there was a blue moon.
Not bad considering how and with what I took them.

Camera: Sony DSC-H50
Exposure: 1/1600 sec
ISO: 80
Aperture: f/4.5
Tripod: None!

Since we're all throwing in our moon shots, here's mine.

Taken handheld with a FZ35.

Half moon is definately easier than full moon and you get more definition in the craters.

A couple of questions:

a) Am I right in thinking that if you half the ISO (e.g. reducing from 200-100), you half the shutter speed value for the same lighting?

b) The longer the focal length, the faster the moon will move out of shot?

Well, yes. I guess. Sort of. No, you are right in what you're thinking, it's just tough to express this "speed" thing. You actually want to double the amount of time the shutter is open or halve the "speed" So, if you are at 1/120th and you drop ISO from 200 to 100, you'd want 1/60th for an equivalent exposure. It helps to think of these things in terms of stops, those are both one stop adjustments

The longer the focal lenth, the faster the apparent movement will be, yes. That has to do with angle of view and arc-seconds of travel, I don't know the math. The moon actually moves fairly quickly though, so you'll probably be shooting faster than you think.
