Default Afternoon at the zoo

It was quite a cloudy, sober winter day. Despite knowing that most animals would be inside and not running around outside, I decided to go to the local zoo anyway. Hadn't been there for a while, and had a good time.

Walked around with my Canon 7D and a bag with several lenses.... but most of the time I just used the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro - it's great :).

Here are the shots I liked best:

Sumatran Tiger - Rotterdam Blijdorp
Taking this was actually quite hard, because of the low amount of light available. This was taken using ISO 3200, a 2.8 aperture and 1/15 exposure. Worked out really well!

Rotterdam Blijdorp - Iguana
An iguana! :)
ISO 1600, 1/40, f/4.0.

Rotterdam Blijdorp - Toucan
These are so pretty - love the colours... and the purple near its eye.
ISO 640, 1/40, f/6.3

Rotterdam Blijdorp - Black-tailed Prairie Dog
These would get really close, one looked as if it was considering jumping on the camera lens :).
ISO 160, 1/320, f/3.2

I will definitely go back when it's sunny :).
All photos were taken at the Blijdorp zoo in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Wonderful portraits, all four of them! I love the perspectives you've chosen, from the straight on powerful view of the tiger to the way you're looking up at the toucan. The textures and lighting on the second are just gorgeous, and wonderful composition on the last. Absolutely great on all four! (And that's my dream lens you're using!)
