Default Gas prices and Ye Olde country store...

Was a very overcast gray day here , and thought it was a good time to shoot in B&W . I have been meaning to get some pics of our old local country store which also has our post office attached .
A great little place with lots of history ( was a stage coach stop ...way back when ) The inside probably looks a lot like it did back then . We also have a 4th of July breakfast here which is sponsered by the owner and various town folk that donate . A fun time indeed ...( local musicians , breakfast , raffles , and ended with the reading of the Declaration of Independence )
Also got a shot of the gas sign which has obviously been there for some time as well . Have yet to see another like it

Thanks for looking .
-John

Nice shots. I love those old historic buildings. Maybe you could get some inside for us.

Love these John - they do look great in B&W, and our weather here today has been pretty similarly, not surprisingly. Places like this are pretty special, aren't they? Full of local charm - I love these kind of places. The gas sign is really cool.

Fred ,
Thanks.
The place is full of character(s) . I'll see what I can do . Been going there for gas and to pick up my mail for years . One of the fellows that work there plays a violin outside in the summer . That would make an interesting shot too .

Hi Nikki ,
Thank You !!
I wanted to shoot it in color , but the B&W caught the mood for today . Always a group of friendly folks here with stories to share .

Hi Jo, Great shot, you should take some on the inside! Country Livin!
I like your second as well. We are paying about $4.33 per gallon here in South Korea, so I hope your not complaining too much!
Thanks for sharing these
Michael.

Michael ,
Thanks !
Shots from inside would be "true" country living ...from the mid-1800s . My favorite sign inside says ,"Please don't spit on the floor , it spreads germs" ( looks as old as the building itself )
And no complaining of gas prices here !

Thank You Hayward !
It only serves to reason we take our Independence Day seriously . The sign entering Nottingham says , " Nottingham - Home of 4 Revolutionary War Generals "

Looks like a place with a lot of history. I'll bet that building has a lot of stories it can tell.

Hi Mike ,

The place and the folks that hang there can definately tell some stories ...and a bit of history too .

Being a bit of a history buff myself ...I'm always drawn in , even if it costs a few cents more .
