Default First try at the moon

I noticed how clear it was when I was driving home from work tonight, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Just a little PP on this for contrast and sharpening. I need some more tries at this, but I'm not unhappy with it for a first, quick try.

Moon01212010

Taken with my 55-200mm
shutter at 1/250
f/11.0

Great shot! I haven't been able to do good moon shots. To be honest, I've only tried a few times, but I can't get the close-up shots like this. Well done!

Good photo for your first try...focus is critical in getting good moon shot and sunlight hitting the side provides good contrast and shadows...

Beautiful shot Mary Anne. Did you convert it to BW?

Great picture! I'm going to have to get out and try my hand at moon shots once it gets fuller around here.

Can I ask what ISO you used to get such a fast shutter speed in the dark? I can't seem to get anything anywhere near that fast at night while maintaining proper exposure, especially with that large of a focal length.

This shot used ISO 400. When I have some time (and it isn't so cold!) and the moon is fuller, I'd like to experiment more.

Very nicely done Mary Anne. This is a great first try. The moon is great for playing with manual settings. Thanks for sharing this one with us.

Dave.

It's beautiful, Mary Anne! I love this phase of the moon, and your detail is just great. Hope you shoot the moon for us more often!
