Default Eyes of the Needles

Another one with the reversing ring (and some post work that's quite noticeable compared to what I normally do).

It was surprisingly hard to get the needles lined up so that the eyes of all 3 were in the DOF.

Eyes of the Needles

Thanks for looking.

Awesome photo. The patience and tenacity paid off.

BTW - What's a reversing ring?

I love it...the side light is awesome.....the dof is always very very shallow in these types of shots....flower shots are hard with macro lens due to the varying depths of the petals

Thank you, Mike. The beer, just out of the frame camera right, sure helped with my patience!

Nikki - Thanks - difficult, but fun.

Thanks. A reversing ring is a "poor man's (or woman's) macro. It's a ring that screws into the front of the lens on one end and the body of the camera on the other, so that the lens mounts backwards. Having a manual aperture ring is a necessity. My ring cost about US $40, though many cost less.

The wider the lens, the higher the maginification. With my 28mm prime, I get about 2X mag.

Patrick - thanks. It seemed when I moved one needle, the thread pulled and moved one or both of the other needles.
