Slice of Color


I soaked onions in food coloring for a couple of hours, sliced them up and shot them with a pellet gun. There was actually a lot more spray, but I cleaned it up a bit in Lightroom.

Would you believe the Canon 55-250mm IS? I like to use that lens for ballistics photography, since it's cheaper than my Sigma 70-200 (in case a stray pellet hits it) and I can stay about 4 feet away from the action. It's actually a pretty nice lens for the money.

I use a sound trigger for these shots. It fires the flash when it hears a loud sound, like the gun firing. I have a Speed Photography tutorial here on DPS in the tutorials section.
