Exclamation A dead animal - WARNING not for the squeamish!

Took these a little over a year ago, but based on the photo of the dead dog that was recently posted I thought I might share them here. The reason is to show that death is just part of life, and worth sharing. In this case the dead animal is a squirrel that lost a battle with an automobile. But what makes the shots interesting is that a scrawny red fox came out to "rescue" the corpse and make it his lunch -- all part of the cycle of life:

Yes, the cycle of life is something many of us forget about.

The emotion in the face in the first one is very well done. I'm curious to see your comments you will get on these.

Great series of shots showing the scavenging ability of this predator. All the shots are good as you have captured a nice sequence of events from the grab to the run and hide to eat. Foxes are a little like photographers as they are opportunists and take what they can when they can. The only problem I have with your photos is that I wasn't standing beside you to see this live, but then again I've seen it many times in other places.

This shot is fine. This is the cycle of life and the fight for survival. The other shot was posted in horribly poor taste. It showed, no doubt, a child's family pet. I'll go out on a limb and say that there was no artistic value to it whatsoever, nor any other redeeming quality. This might shoot my chances for being a moderator on this board, but were it me, it would have been deleted immediately. TFS, Kirb!

Equilution, is that really necessary?? Honestly. Grow up a bit, sometimes photography is a bit grotestque. The image in question was not gore filled, nor was it even the slightest bit bloody. I think reality deserves to be shot, no matter what sometimes. Really now, do we have to go right back into this. Google images "Pulitzer Prize Winning Photo"s. If those shots do not grieve your heart, and a dead dog does, I think you may need to rethink your priorities. Lets enjoy the shots, and not try and drag others down. Thanks. -KT
