Default 12 Jan/365 - My piggy bank

This is a piggy bank I made at primary school aged 7. There is a bit of a story about this pig.

No-one in my family really raved about this pig when I brought it home from school. It weighs a ton. How I managed to carry it home from school without smashing it is still a mystery anyway on with the story! I put it in my mums garage, tucked out of the way at the back and forgot about him. Fast forward to the age of 24 when I started dating my new boyfriend (hubby). We were into mountain biking back then and I had an old rusty bike in my mums garage and when we went to look for it there was piggy all covered in cobwebs (that would have made a great photo! lol!). Hubby said "what the heck is that", and picked piggy up and dusted him off and said he's brilliant! Considering I was only little when I made him! So now he is sitting pride of place on the shelf in the conservatory!

Here he is:

He's made out of clay. I remember kneading the clay like mad because the teacher said that if you don't get rid of all the trapped air the kiln would blow up! At least that's what I thought he said

You'll be telling us his name is "Jake" next. Cool looking pig though Rach. Any money in there? PAUL

Wow rachel he is fabulous! When you think how young you were when you made it, it's wonderful. Glad he's survived a decade or two anyway. Nice that your hubby loves him too, that must've made you feel proud. Cute story.

Yeah Jake the Pig lol! Money? Nah! Spent it!

Joking aside this pig does indeed hold quite alot of money once I counted £37 in loose change but since having kiddies they spend all our loose change!

Glad to see that piggy has lived a long life, is still well-loved, and did not wind up as bacon. Great story.
