Hi to this wonderful family. I thought i would share some of the things that DPS has taught me. In this photograph I have learned. Composition, Depth of Field and Focusing and I now understand what Bokeh means too.
I Didn't know any of this a year ago. Thank you DPS. Feel free to share what you have learned. ![]() Dave.

A beautiful shot Dave. I especially love the "all green" in the image, I love holly too, so festive.
The biggest thing that I have learned here has little to do with photography - I hope I'm allowed to still comment though - I've learned what wonderful friends DPS holds for us.

Beautiful photo, David! I think I learn something new every time I come on to DPS. Learning the technical aspects of photography continues to be wonderful, but it goes far beyond that. I love seeing parts of the world I've never seen before and would never have the opportunity to see in person, and I love feeling like I have likeminded friends all over this wonderful world. Participating in giving and receiving support in this community is such a joy. And of course, I've learned that "it's nice to be nice, and it's freeeee!"

I love the holly - the background sets it off beautifully.
As for what I've learned from DPS, so much - but I think the most important thing I've learned is to not be afraid to share how I see the world. And that photographers, be they hobbysists or professionals, just love to share and encourage.

What a simple shot, one that most would miss--just a sprig of holly catching sun--and yet, David, your photo makes it look as though it has come the Queen's garden with a special decree that we should stop all activity and "Behold the humble Holly!" What a difference a year makes, huh?

OK Dave, it's confession time. Yes, I have learned so much about photography and still have a long way to go. But DPS has done much more than that. I spent 62 years on this planet, and despite my profession of Nursing where I have dedicated my life to the service of others, I have never been comfortable in the presence of people, and subsequently have never had friends as such. Amazingly I now have over 40 friends here and, like Helen, I have learned that being nice and thoughtful and caring is free and painless. I thank people like you and all my other friends here for a new life and something to look forward to daily. Here is a shot that would never have been taken uness I had learned about, and seen examples of, angles and reflections on DPS.
![]() Thankyou Dave. Thankyou DPS

thank you for sharing this lovely photo with us. I love its simplicity.
DPS members have given me so much to be inspired by, both by their photos and their words. And to "step into the light" and share my work and be accepted has been a wonderful opportunity. Thank you
