Crawling inside a little prison's cellar of a castle I've seen this set of ancient drawings. How did they do them? What had they used for paint? Is it just red powder or... Blood?

What an interesting photo. I have no idea what they mean, so sorry, I cant translate for you! Maybe it means the chickens are laying the eggs under the ferns???
![]() Thanks for sharing. Am sure someone will be able to translate a bit better.

Haha Shellie, I wonder if their meaning is simpler than we think, something like: "pigeons poo on a leaf".

Lol Steve, it's funny to try to guess what they tried to represent with those paintings...
The cell was full of them, of course, but the ones nearby the lamp were more interesting.

Hi Gabriel.
It would be interesting to know where this prison is. The painting could be and attempt at depicting a Menorah, the nine branched candelabra used in Hanukkah by Jews during The Festival of Light. Just a thought. PAUL

Thank you Ty, Paul and Jennie for your interesting hints, you may all be right or not, we shall summon an archaeologist!
![]() FYI the prison is inside the castle of Gorizia, Italy. @Jennie: Yes, prisoners might just have been a little bored, who knows.
