Default Intro and first photo

I have been having fun with new nikon D3000 I got for Christmas. Haven't used a camera for a lot of years. Trying to get back into it. Anyway I am a little on the older side maybe for this site but at 55 am finding Colorado a beautiful place to look at through a lense. This looks like a very helpful website.

I have included a pic I got abot a week ago... I also have one over on the critique page.

Welcome from a fellow Coloradoan

First off, wonderful capture on the photo!

,,,,while await my first DSLR I am starting a note journal of all the places I wish to go in this state to snap some photos...might take some time to visit all of them just because of the sheer beauty this state offers.

Thanks all... yeah it hit me as slice of time too. If only I could have found an angle that removed the modern day power lines/pole. But then maybe that contrast makes the older building work. I dont know. But CO, while it is a bit cold for this former GA guy is a beautiful place whose dry climate does preserve old stuff...

hmmmm......you are certainly not too old for this site! have a look around!.....and certainly not too old to learn new things every day like I have from this site! So welcome to DPS! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I love the composition and the colours in the photo you have posted - superb. You can really feel the warmth of the sun. To me the photo has the feel of a painting. And I think the wide width suits the photo. I wouldn't worry too much about the power poles, but you could try rubbing them out pp.

Have fun with your new camera - I look forward to seeing more shots from you. We welcome "oldies" on this site!

I love your picture! I just bought a Nikon D3000 as well. I have a lot to learn, but this site is very helpful.
