Default Helmsore Quarry grass mounds...

After visiting a friend in Blackburn, I went over to a place called Helmshore for a walk. We came across an area littered with mounds of quarry waste that had been taken back by nature and totally covered by grass. I was difficult to make a photograph out of the mounds but found I liked this shot, hope you do?

Looks good to me Gary. Theres always a shot somewhere for the inventive photographer, and you found it here. I would have liked to compare it with the same perspective where the sky was two thirds instead to see the difference. Don't suppose you did, did you? Thanks for this Gary. PAUL

i love the moodiness of this shot! the clouds indicate rain and i can see that the wind is blowing the grass..would be spectacular to see them sway and be parted by the wind..

Thanks for posting this one Gary. That place called Helmshore is where I spent the first 18years of my life [and it's 20years since I last walked up there ]

Your shot has captured the essence of what I remember of walking over "the Grane" between Helmshore and Blackburn. The grasses are typical of the area and those clouds are so typical [of a nice summer's day ].

My mother still lives in the town - she tells me it looks a bit different up there at the moment - it's even more beautiful covered in snow.

Thanks for bringing some memories flooding back Gary!

No this is awesome Gary - all dark & moody with a blast of bright for contrast. I love how you composed it so that the brightness is at the end of the trail on the ground as you draw your eye along it. Beautiful perspective too.

love the detail in the grass and the ominous, overbearing clouds B&W does it justice
