Hi and welcome to DPS,

I enjoy shooting winter scene since i have nothing elso to see for the next few months in Montreal then it becomes second nature.

I think when you shoot snow, well the snow should be white and not grey so you should check your white balance or exposure time. someting is wrong on one of these.

You are mentioning that the sky si not so great so why did you include so much in your first shot. Why not try to get down lower even lying in the snow to capture the immage and get more of the landscape with a litle less sky.

Both your shots look like they are slanted to the left. It is an easy fix to straighten them up in PP.

since you really didn't have a question, seemed to be pleased with your work, and have more than one image,......i'll move this over to the share your shots section where the rules are a bit more lax.....

I like the first composition - but I agree that it may have been better with a bit more foreground and a bit less sky. Perhaps they are a little grey, but then I think that adds to the moodiness of the shots. Well done on your first snow shots.

Welcome to DPS, jmhole! That second shot is a real beauty -- the reflections are wonderful! I also really like the line of the fence in the first photo. You've done a great job with these!

Thanks for all the comments, I shot these in raw so I will have another play with the white balance in Lightroom and I will have to go out again on my own and play with the compositions, as I had my wife and a friend with his dog with me.
