Default Shooting in the Snow

After reading various books, it would seem that mastering the art of photographing snow can be difficult, especially getting the exposure correct. I shot this on Manual with my 1000D and kept a close eye on the exposure meter, adjusting the shutter speed and sperture until it was overexposing by 1/3. I was very happy with the outcome - also converted it to B&W as well - enjoy

Hi Tim, you have definately been out there enjoying the snow... Nice landscape shot, I have read that getting the correct exposure and white balance with snow can sometimes be tricky... You have done on this shot. I am a sucker for B&W and do prefer it to the colour version... Good work, keep it up. TFS

Beautiful shots indeed Tim. Snowy scenes are always tough to get right, but your settings were fabulous here.

I love blue skies with snow! The blueness always reflects off the white stuff, and it's amazing

Great job Tim. you got your exposure just right. I do prefer the colour one though but the black and white looks good too. Nice work

Dave.

When i remember - I just focus on my hand then lock the exposure or focus on the blue sky and lock the exposure and it sets the wb just fine. I would use a grey card but I am mostly running out to snap a few pics and running back inside cause it's so darn cold most days!

Nice shots - I love them both!

Nice shots, I have to admit that I let my camera do most of the work when shooting snowscapes. I set the aperture and exposure compensation and thats it.
