Thumbs up Lightning Pictures from yesterday

After a big storm yesterday afternoon i went to the Boiler House Roof.
More storms were approaching and i captured some descent lightning pictures.
For the firs 2 pictures i used Aperture setting as well as 10 second self timer on my camera.
For the last 2 i used Bulb setting and a shutter release cable.
For all the captures i used a tripod as well.White balance setting for the first 2 captures was Cloudy and for the last 2 Tungsten.
Enjoy this series.

Lightning shots always fascinate me. Thanks for sharing a little about how you took them. Also glad the storm was far away. Lighting can travel pretty far, so you be careful up on the roof!

Awesome set! I live at the lake and we have some real good storms during the summer months. Hope to capture some this year. Great job!

Thank You for looking and commenting.
As soon i could hear the lightning rumble i packed my stuff and went back to the control room.
I am very careful concerning lightning.
If the lightning is heavy and nearby i normally capture lightning pictures through an open window from inside a building.

There is always a first time.
My real first lightning shot i captured was with a Digital 3megapixel Kodak camera.
Now i have much better equipment.
It is still difficult to capture lightning on camera as your timing must be perfect and you must have some luck on your side as you saw with my aperture captures from yesterday. The lightning just struck at the right time as my camera counted of 10 seconds and the picture was captured withou me being near the camera.

Thank you for looking Sox.
The first 2 was captured when it was still daytime and as you can see in the last two captures it became darker and darker. I also like the blueish effect which one gets using Tungsten as White Balance on ones camera.
I am glad you enjoyed this series.

Christo, I particularly like your first two. The calm water and reflections in the first two show the calm before the coming storm.
