Default Dorm Room Oppression

Well, I've been basically stuck in my dorm room because of the ridiculously cold weather! And wouldn't you know it, there is basically nothing to shoot. I took a couple cracks today and taking some shots, and this is what I got. These two shots are all about contrast, between the two pictures. I've been listening to a lot of Nirvana today, and this is sorta the result of that. The titles are reminiscent of two Nirvana songs, (Jesus Don't Want Me for a Sunbeam and Sappy) and I think they sort of capture those titles. Both are shot with a Nikon D90, with my new 50mm F/1.8 lens. I was using a FL-D filter for both shots.

Sunbeam
-------------------

Model: NIKON D90
ISO: n/a
Exposure: 1/100 sec
Aperture: 1.8
Focal Length: 50mm

Sappy
----------------------

Model: NIKON D90
ISO: n/a
Exposure: 1/1600 sec
Aperture: 5.6
Focal Length: 50mm

Thanks for looking. Comments, suggestions, etc are always appreciated.

Stinks that it's that cold there.

Good way to make something out of nothing. I do like the contrast in "Sunbeam."

I think you may be poking fun at me with that "Location: Florida." Haha Thanks for the comment, and yes, it is quite chilly.

Technically you arent supposed to "bump" your posts.... dont let the "Mods" catch you LOL .

Good photos. I like the light one the best. I like the ring of light around it and how it fades out to darkness. Glad you managed to find something to shoot! Maybe you could try a "still life" shoot and post it in the 2nd Annual Still Life Invitational post by Lindyanna Jones. Might help cure the boredom!

I kind of thought that about the bump rule, but I didn't see anything in any of the rules so I figured what the heck, I'd give it a shot. I'll be sure not to do it again, thanks for the warning. On the Still Life subject... I tried that, I just couldn't find anything of interest in my room other than pizza boxes and Dr. Pepper cans, I guess thats the terrible life of a college student.

A little bit of critique is OK here in SYS, but not much.

If you want more detailed critique, it's best to post in the critique section. There are different rules that apply there (show your EXIF info, ask a specific question, etc.). And some sub-sections get more traffic than others. If a couple of days go by with no response, then it's perfectly fine to bump.

Thanks for the clarification Chip, sorry again, I wasn't really sure on the rules. I'll be sure next time to not do it again. I have a thread going in the critique section as of soon after this one was posted. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the warm words Leona and KGB.
