Default Winter Rose

Winter Rose

Having gone home for the holidays, I had a chance to visit my father's grave for the first time in a few years. The cemetery is in the country and was so peaceful with the snow and the silence. After getting out of the car, I noticed this rose lying in the snow-covered road. It must have either blown out of one of the other arrangements nearby or fallen when someone else had visited with flowers. The contrast of the red rose on the fresh, white snow was beautiful. I hope you enjoy...

Thanks for the comment, Leona. Lonely comes to mind along with sad.

I think it's beautiful. I wonder if you could isolate the snow and lower the exposure some so that the texture of the snow can be seen a little more. That would also allow for some nice contrast between the snow and the rose.

It is a lovely picture, makes you think about the fragility & brevity of life - crikey, I am coming over all philosophical now.

Thank you all for the comments. Don't worry Mad, as I've gotten older I've become quite philosophical myself.
