Today, I wrote my list of the 52 places we are going to visit in Western Australia over the next 52 weeks. Phew it is gonig to be an exhausting trip covering 1000's of kilometres. Hope you can come along.
If you missed my first post - check it out - "Tour 2010 - Welcome to Western Australia - Coming for a drive?" and I welcome you aboard. My first post showed some views of Perth from the air and from Kings Park. Tenzin's Mom said she hoped I would be including some flower shots in my tour guide - So I have made Part 2 for Week 1 - Perth. Here are some flower shots taken in Kings Park in Perth - the first stop on our tour. Kings Park is a botanical garden covering approx 1000 acres of gardens, bushland and walk trails located right in the centre of Perth. It was started in 1872 and displays an extensive collection of plants from all around the world, as well as research scientists undertaking integrated and innovative research in native plant biology, conservation and ecological restoration of Western Australia's unique biodiversity. There are also a number of memorials in Kings Park. One of the favourite times to go to Kings Park is during Spring during the Wildflower Festival - giving visitors a chance to see a huge variety of wildflowers - here are just a small sample. I hope you enjoy them. One of the Kangaroo Paw family - our State flower emblem
The Flame Grevillia
The Rose Mallee

More beauties Jill! Can't believe you've already written out your 52 week tour itinerary for us, very cool! I live vicariously through my Antipodean friends here on DPS since I've never been across to Australia or NZ, although they are prominently on my to-do list, and have been for many years. So I'm loving your 2010 tour & am grateful that you're happy for me to join you!

I almost missed this post, but I'm glad I went digging a little! The flowers are gorgeous, it is so nice to see color and think warm thoughts. The picture of the park is glorious - so serene. Can't wait for more

I am right along with you Jill. I can smell the flowers. The park is magnificent, and 1000 acres is plenty for me to go at until the next leg. Thank you for the atmosphere and the information. I am going to enjoy this, and what an experience to look back on in 51 weeks time. PAUL

Love your flowers Jill. Taking a good picture of Australian wildflowers can be very hard, but you have shown them off to their fullest potential.
