Default University Boathouse 2010 and Bienheim Palace Grounds

Hi and happy New Year to you all DPsers.
I have not been idle infact as a New years resolution i have commited myself to go out every day and take some photos, unless its raining of course.
I went back to an area where i used to live in Oxford to visit the New University boathouse on the River Thames. The previous one had been destroyed by fire and all the boating history was lost whithin it, such as cups and photos etc.The new one is pretty cool in design so this is my take on it, and remember my photos are not always as you would see it in reality lol!!.
The Oxford deceased bike project or ODB for short is still growing strong but more of that on another thread.
I went out to Blenheim Palace this Sunday gone boy it was freezing, still i mangaged to get a couple of good shots in, including my friend. Her comment was that i had made her look fat!! Another new years resolution coming i think lol!!
cheers
mike

Wow! Amazing shots. It's so sad that all of those historical items were lost in the fire. You captured the new one wonderfully. The 3rd shot takes the cake for me though, the clouds look amazing.

Very cool set! I love the perspective on the first two, and the third really does look like a rocket blasting off! Great!

hi zannie
yes it was pretty awful that included boats and decorated oars everything the lot.!!. The new one is kinda square and boxy looking but it has some nice features with tinted blue glass doors and wood panalling.
Pretty funny how the third came out really although i did see some symmetry to start with
cheers

and a happy new year to you too Nicky!!
ah hum!! ive been around just popping in from time to time and waiting till you returned he he !! you must be the fastest poster on the internet!!
The day at Blenheim was so bright but it was feckin freezing cold. Glad i took my telephoto to get those long shots as this is a big estate and didint want to hang about too long.
The landscaping was designed by Caperbilitiy Brown (what a bloody awful name lol!!) i bet they called him billy for short. Any way he was a bit of a perfectionist and if you look at the blast off pic see how he placed the trees on the left and right of the column.
I did the clouds thou and the people all in a line he he !!
Rains eased off here although it rained for 24 hrs the oher day

cheers
