Smile First attempt at capturing water drops

So I read the thread about photographing water drops and thought I'd give it a shot. I took about 200 and these were the best ones. I'm not really thrilled with them, but they are a start. What do you think?

These look great for your first time, I have yet to try it myself. The second shot looks like a crown.

Hey Emily. The important thing is you went for it, and anyways, 2 & 4 are as good as any I've seen recently, so be proud. Well done. PAUL

These are a lot better than my first attempt! It looks like you got the camera a lot lower than I had in my set up but the drops are still not clearing the 'horizon'. Maybe the trick is to get such shallow DoF that the horizon blurs out.

Your colouring is a lot more vivid than mine as well. Is that a red bowl that the water is in?

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments. I will definitely be trying it again. I agree and think 2 and 4 are the best out of the set. I will post some new ones soon.

Those are really good. I think four is the best - sharp and a little bit of a different take on the water drops.

Thanks. I think you are right, a more shallow DOF would help. I'll try that next time. I used a red crystal plate, with a piece of white paper behind it to bounce the flash off of.
