Default River Scene

I went out for a walk today along the river that runs along our town. I saw this scene a couple days back, but it just hadn't...Developed yet. So I waited a couple of days for some sun and ice formation.

This was one of the pics for the day.:
Left?

Now, the problem with the area is that literally two inches to the left of the above photo is a red house that is all but ugly. So I had to crop it (and the river bank) out of the picture.

But I just didn't like the image, something just doesn't feel right, so I flipped it and to me it's a lot better..although I don't really know why...it just feels better. What do you think?:
Right?

Then while posting on my Facebook...and that awful interface that they have, I got a chance to see them both together...and just for fun, I was just inspired to go just a little further.:
Both

CC of course welcome.

Thanks, I understand completely. Winter is just really getting started here. I haven't even had to start shoveling yet.

Very nice shot. I can't decide which one I like best....I must be ambidextrous....or something...

Thanks everyone, The second is going to be my family Christmas card next year...unless I get a better shot. I'm going to have to figure out what to do with that third one...I do have a spot on the wall...

Most people who read languages that go left to right on the page and then top to bottom down the page are, perhaps unconsciously, happier with images that let their eyes do the same thing. The angle of the trunk and the direction of the main branch in the 'main' tree in your second shot lets them do this. This may be why the second is more pleasing to you and others than the first.

Love the composite shot. Could be a good St Valentine's Day card!

TFS.
