...so, Happy New Year to all my DPS friends! I've been away for a couple weeks, and am really feeling the DPS-withdrawal. I can't wait to dive back in.
I'm sharing a couple pics here with you to sum up my Christmas AND my New Year's Eve. The first pic here is my new toy. I traded in my 07 Tacoma for this beast, a 2010 Toyota Tundra, TRD Edition 4x4. What a sweet ride!!! ![]() ...but why bittersweet, you ask??? Let me tell you... A week after we got it, we were at Costco getting some New Year's Eve supplies. My oldest son (12) was being helpful by loading stuff into the back of the truck. Upon exiting the bed of the truck, his foot snagged on a box and he came tumbling out of the truck, head over heels. He landed with his left wrist bearing his entire 100 pounds. This is what an ulna and a radius look like after 100 pounds comes crashing down from 5 feet off the ground. The doctor said he's very lucky that the bones didn't come through the skin. Looking at the pic, you can see his ulna and radius looking sheered. The bone matter to the right, and below is supposed to be attached to the ends. OUCH!!!!!! Needless to say we spent New Year's Eve in the ER! ![]() What a tough little dude!! He's doing much better now, but his archery lessons are going to be put off for a while!! Happy New Year to everyone!! Here's to an incredible 2010!!!! You've all been wonderful supporters of a great community!

Yikes, bittersweet indeed. Hope he at least got a very cool colored cast .... and ice cream always helps too! And what a great new truck -- looks perfect for a visit to the northern part of the state sometime!

Hi Jim, Happy new year!! Love the truck, your going to enjoy that one! Ouchy mama on your son's wrist. I did something similar as kid...fell off a horse and went about a week before seeing a doctor. Welcome back and looking forward to 2010!

Great looking monster Jim. Sorry to hear about your son. 12 year olds tend to heal pretty well though. Visited an old teaching colleague recently with an almost identical injury. She's OK now, and she's 80. He will soon be drawing back the bow. Good to see you back in circulation. PAUL

Awesome truck! Now all you need is to get some mud on it. Sorry to hear about your son's accident but it sounds like he's a trooper. I'm sure he'll miss archery but hopefully his healing time will fly by for him.
Happy New Year to you too!!! 2010 is going to be amazing! Thanks for all of your support during the short time I've been here at DPS. |
