![]() Tada! So, on the way home from a family new year's dinner today, I saw the moon today and having read the "21 Most Read" post on DPS, one of them was a collection reader "How I Took It" posts. I read one about moon shots, and so... (Although now that I look at some of his work, it puts this little figure of a moon to shame.) The moon isn't very big, unfortunately. It's at 105mm (EXIF through the link in the photo itself), so I tried to use the equipment at my disposal and I'm pretty pleased with the result—it shows me that under the right settings my camera and lenses can reasonably hold their own and more than justify the prices spent on them. Pictures like these definitely remind me why I love photography. Note to self: If I try this again I need a longer lens to do the moon justice. (Not just an excuse for more equipment.) Thanks for viewing!

Yes, you got the detail of the moon. That seems to be evading me just yet. If I get one like this I won't grumble. Well done. PAUL

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing your moon shot -- it's beautiful. And thanks too for the inspiration to learn how to do this -- I'm going to have to check out that "how I took it" section.

Thanks, you guys.
![]() I may go out and try it again tonight—if I do, I won't spend the time kneeling on the concrete for twenty minutes...

Thanks. You can distinguish a little more detail if you view it in large on the Flickr page (click on the image to get there), but what I really want—though, sadly, not yet need enough to justify—is a telephoto lens that goes to at least 200mm. Right now I only get to 105mm, so...
Here's to hoping it falls out of the sky.
