Default Long Exposure B&Ws 2

This is a set from shots i tool at Simon Fraser University the other day. I was focusing on ghosted people in various settings. I had to go B&W because the fog was everywhere, and the colours muted all over. I thought it made for some interesting lighting etc for these shots. Thanks for checking these out, and I hope you enjoy them. Lastly. If you were to p[ick one shot, which one would you choose for my club's monthly theme on 2 second and longer exposures. Most of these were 2 second exposures. You should check the large versions on my Flickr as some are very subtle in terms of motion blur. Cheers.

I really like the 1st one as the light seems to directed at the focal point...the tree. The others are good too but the focal points are not so defined...the light itself seems to be the focal point in those shots

Hi Paul - the subject matter is very interesting ... I'm leaning towards the 'couple' .. only because it suggests that it was a long exposure image ... the other three - if it wasn't for the title I wouldn't have noticed the motion blur ... don't get me wrong - they're all very nice

I hear what you are saying, Patrick, and agree. Thanks for the input.

I like that one as well, Hayward, especially because the people are more obvious, and more blurred. Thanks mate.

I agree with this. I really like the first one, but the second one is my next pick. And would be for better for a long exposure theme in my opinion. Nice work!

I think I like the second one the best - as you can see the blurred people and I like the angle looking up the steps.

There I go being different again. For me it's no 3. These shots shout out 'Perspective', and the repeated and diminishing shapes and the strong perspective lines of 3 produce the best sense of depth. Perspective is further emphasised by the central viewpoint which puts the vanishing point central. Furthermore, the undisturbed and simplified foreground enhances the quality of the overal scene. Then, to top it all, a dynamic is introduced in the form of a point; a person "leaving", which eventually draws the eye and keeps on drawing it. Fantastic.
Great shots all three Paul. Happy Christmas. PAUL

Clever Paul, my favourite is the second with the understated yet more obvious addition of people to evidence the longer exposure

Wow, Paul. Those are some very astute observations, and now I am in a muddle again as I was thinking 1 or 2. Hmmm...

Hi Steve. I had a feeling you would like that one mainly because of the simplicity of the composition. Less means more, right!
