Default Newbie --

I'm a complete Newbie here, so not sure of the protocol.

Found the DPS online, and bought the Ebook on Portraits.

I've a website at DaveClarkImages' Photos- powered by SmugMug with lots of images. Appreciate any comments, especially of the Eastern Sierra - 2009 and Panoramas - New England galleries.

Looking forward to participating. Thanks.

I am not professional enough to critique your photography.. but loved the old ghost town pictures!! May I ask you where that was located? I would love to go visit there someday..

Hi Dave - welcome to DPS - how about sharing one of your shots on line here. I know we would love to see them.

Default New Picture -- Eastern Sierra, CA

Here's a new image of Buttermilk near Bishop, CA, in the Eastern Sierra. You can find this area just west of the town off Hwy 168, which runs to US 395, the main north-south highway between So California (Victorville) and Reno, NV. The Eastern Sierra is a fabulous year round visitor area with glorious photography opportunities, fishing, hunting, and skiing in winter at Mammoth Mountain and June Lake.

Bodie is about 75 miles north of Bishop, off the same US 395 and easterly on a road partially paved. Bodie is a California State Park, preserved by the park service in a state of "arrested decay." It was a silver mining town with as many as 10,000 inhabitants in the 1880s or so. Don't try to get into Bodie during winter; the park service may close it up, and be prepared for heavy snow and ice.

Enjoy.
