Default Long Exposure B&W's

Our club theme this month is long exposures. Each shot must be a minimum of 2 seconds long. So I decided, in a slightly hung-over state, to go to the pier in Whiterock. This pier is shot a lot, but I have not seen that many long exposure shots of it. I stacked my 3 stop and polarizer on my Sigma lens for these shots. I would like to pick one of these for the monthly theme competition so give me some feedback on which of the four is the best. Thanks for your time.

First shot, hands down! Composition plain & simple.

Beautiful results Paul (the hangover was worth it). I love them all, but am torn between the 2nd & 4th shots as my fave - for the first pic, I prefer the longer exposure shot, I feel you get a tiny bit more contrast in it that obviously adds more "umph" since you're in B&W. The last shot is great, I love the contrast and lines/shapes in it, but the colour you've captured under the pier is wonderful.

I guess if you're aiming to demonstrate smoothness of the water in long exposures, I'd favour the first since you get to see a more vast expanse of water.

Wow, Paul, that's tough. I like them all, but #1 and #2 are my favorites. I might give #2 a very slight nod, as it is a little more unusual composition

You're going to have a hard time choosing I think as I certainly do. I like the first shot, but the second really catches my attention. Dreamy water, reflection, and a simple composition all make it an interesting shot. Good work.

I had a hard time deciding between 1 and 3. Finally decided I like the way the pier draws my eye into the distance, so the first one. Good shots.

Geat job paul. Its a toss up between the first 2. I think i would like the second one better if the small chunk of land wasn't there.

Definitely the first one but the second a close follow up. These are all great captures.

I had a feeling that shot would draw people in. Thanks for the input.

Hi Nicky. Thanks for the great comments you always provide. I am having a tough one on this set as the first 3 have my attention. Thanks!

I tend to agree with you Mike, about the composition having possibly more impact.

Thanks Phil. The perspective of the first shot Draws me in, and I like the small details in the foreground as they provide a base, and ground the shot.

Thanks PrimeTime. I totally agree with you on that one. It would be somewhat difficult to frame the pier without that spit showing up in the frame. Good eyes my friend.

You are steering me toward the first shot, Steve, although the added selective colour in the last shot gives a lot of impact in terms of colour contrast. Thanks for the outlook!
