Default An Olympic task

We had the torch relay come through town yesterday.. the LOML kicked me out of bed to get these .. that's why she's the LOML ...

I did the whole - walk in with camera like I belonged .. I was ahead of the pro's who were waiting around the corner on main street .. LOL

The torch up close

the torch

I didn't know until later in the day that it's very rare to get this part of the ceremony, the lantern is kept away and well protected except for the initial lighting of each stage .. I caught the action at stage one

the lantern's light

I had the shivers at this moment

success

and I can only imaging the emotions and pride this lucky guy is feeling here .. you don't see the crowds from this perspective but there was a throng of many thousands all along our Main street ..

full of pride

Hi Jack,
have to say I really enjoyed looking at your super images. Especially like the third one after they lite the torch. It's a really nice capture and a moment in your local history worth remembering. Well done and Thank you for sharing them with us.
David.

Nice one Ian, will be a great memory, and you got in there before the paparazzi, it's amazing they fired that torch up outside a gas station, cheers and thanks for sharing Steve.
