Well - new baby is 2 weeks old today. Family came a short while ago, so we have 11 people in the house right now, 6 children ages new to 12 and 5 adults. It's given me few chances to get out and take photos.
Christmas is coming quickly so everyone around here is trying to get their last minute shopping done. A new DSLR is not in the cards for me this year, I guess getting a new big house and a bunch of other things makes up for it though. Even so, I'm only hitting some of the limits on my sony superzoom. I'm speculating though that my wife may have gotten me photography lessons with one of my local "idols". Anyway, from all that a selection of pictures I have been able to take while family is here. ![]() While tree hunting at Moose Meadows Farm in our town, I found these items stuck up on the wall that I liked, so I snapped this. This is SOOC (Or, just with a WB adjust, I'm not sure....) ![]() Our new baby girl, Addison, on the carpet looking at the fireplace. I used a preset from onOne software in Lightroom to get the antique effect. ![]() The other night I took my oldest nephew out into the back of the property in the cold to capture some night shots. This is one of the city views that I got. I used a selenium preset in Lightroom to get the colour. Because of the chilly weather and all the pulp mills in our town there was lots of atmospheric haze to capture and hold the colour of the lights. At the same time, I was able to start explaining the relationship of Shutter Speed and Aperature to Demitris and how over 6 seconds a little camera shake can go a long way. He got a couple good shots with his Canon P&S before he ran out of batteries. ![]() Not an amazing picture, the boys had trouble staying still for 6 seconds, but I still like how it turned out to be much like it was in my mind. Shane (my brother in law) brought Roarke (the other older cousin) out to see what we were doing in the dark and the cold. I had them sit in front of the warm lights of the city and light painted them with a blue flashlight - I thought the comparison of the two types of light would be a neat effect - and it is. It's just not as clear as I'd like, but it still is an experiment that worked as far as I'm concerned. |
