Default Day 1: Rainy Sydney

We landed in Sydney this morning and were greeted by persistent rain showers, but we managed to salvage a bit of the day anyhow. Full set here.

Sydney Bat-tanical Garden...The Sydney Botanical Garden doubles as a bat habitat. Although most choose to sleep the day away, a few brave the daylight and take flight. I was fortunate to catch this one:

A great shot of the flying fox, though I'm afraid they are a bit of a pest in the Royal Botanic Gardens. Apparently they are damaging the trees because of their sheer numbers.

I assume the stained glass window is one from St Mary's?

Enjoy your stay in Sydney, I promise that the rest of the week will be much warmer and drier!

An interesting array of shots, Dana. I really like the one of the bat, so unusual to get one in the daytime where there's so much detail available.

Wow, Dana!! What an awesome set. One of the best 4-somes I've seen. Great perspective on the chess set, perfect timing with the bat, and that zoom shot is beautifully done!! TFS

Thanks. I couldn't believe I got that picture of the fox, either. Maybe the dark and overcast sky wasn't enough of a deterrent for them to stay hanging upside down until dusk. There are now signs in the park discussing relocating the flying fox habitat due to damage to the trees. There seem to be more than I remembered from previous visits. And yes, St. Mary's. As many times as I've walked past it, yesterday was the first time I went in.
