Default Twas The Night Before Christmas...DPS Style! A must read!

Who says jetlag makes you unproductive??? I wrote this at 4am this morning for all my DPS friends and family, in honor of this joyous Christmas season! I hope you enjoy! Pass it on!!

Twas The Night Before Christmas...DPS Style!!

T’was the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Not a DPSer was stirring
…not even Darren Rowse!

My camera was loaded
With memory to spare
…and the batteries were charging
In the foyer downstairs

With a Latte in hand
And my D3 poised to shoot
At last I would capture
Old St. Click with his loot

So there I was nestled…
All snug in my bed
While visions of exotic glass
Danced in my head

When all of the sudden
On the lawn, what a racket
I sprang from my bed
With my Nikon set to bracket

As I ran outside
To finally capture the tale
Of Old St. Click
Man…he’s my White Whale

I finally saw him
This old man in red
He then turned and saw me
And he nodded his head

At last I would have him
At last I’d have peace
So, I raised my camera
And pressed the shutter release

I expected a click
And an LCD preview
Instead there was silence
Was there something askew??

Imagine my panic
Imagine my terror
When I finally realized
My incredible error

My focus, my exposure
My ambient light
My aperture, my ISO
I couldn’t get anything right

By the time that I realized
The error of my ways
My moment had passed
As he waved, “Later days!”

I stood there and watched
Him fly out of my sight
Checking my settings
“Crap.” I exclaimed…my low battery light!!

….sigh

I sat there in my own grief
My sniffling nose runny
“Oh well.” I thought, next project:
Just you wait, Easter Bunny!!

Merry Christmas everyone...from the Sonoran Desert! I hope you all have a great Christmas!!!

Desert Xmas

Hehe! That's awesome Jim, and it's the first time I've ever seen a life-sized Xmas cactus! I'm going to mail you some Ambien ;-)

You're clearly WAY more productive than me at 4 a.m. Great version of the classic. You've captured the photographer's Christmas perfectly. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
