So, I went for a photo walk yesterday to test out my new lens, an Olympus 70-300.
I've been wanting to get a close up of some swans and the only place I know that had any walking their grounds was a local apartment complex near their pond, so I took a drive over there and got up CLOSE! They're so used to people that when I pulled up in my truck, a huge group flew and ran over, probably assuming I was there to feed them. Either way, I got out and walked right up to pet and photograph a couple and had a swan nibble my finger, which felt interesting. Almost like a baby teething. Hopefully this weekend, I can get my wife to run out there with me because I know she'd be giddy to see swans that close up, let alone feed one. Anyway, here's a few from my day. There were a few species of ducks, geese, swans and Chinese goose swans.( Which I'd never seen before, so it was neat.) Well done Jeff - great shots - you won't put this lens down now. It is always good to be able to stand back and get close to your subjects. Cheers, Bernz

Thanks!
Bernzfotos, I can see what you mean. I think it will be used quite a bit with wildlife. It will definitely get closer to most of the things I like to snap shots of than my other lenses. I'm looking forward to summer now, to try my hand at better dragonfly shots. I can never really get that close to them for macros without catching them first. This should help that, slightly. It's just a tad front heavy for handheld usage. Time to start carrying the tripods or monopods more, I guess. Other than that, I like it a lot!
