VR is magic, especially for PJs shooting available light. Between that and usable ISO6400 on my D700, I'm pretty well set. Subject motion can sometimes be a problem though. I used to have the 70-300VR, and loved it, but needed the wider aperture for night sports. Ended up with the 80-200 for a while, I was waiting on the revised 70-200, because the original was so bad in the corners. I've only had it a few days, but it's definitely a keeper.

I sorta get the technical stuff. Handheld at 1/20 th would never fly with my equipment. But setting that aside, what a wonderful face, especially the glasses. They make him look wise. Someone whose stories you wish you could hear. Lovely shots.

Have you used the older 70-200? How does this compare on the D300? I understand the value on the full frame - but does it give better performance on a DX camera than the older lens?
