Default Live from Denver, IA....birds and flowers

Since it is so bitterly cold here my friend and I took a trip over to our local University's greenhouse. Not only was it an amply opportunity to take some photos of beautiful flowers, but it was also toasty warm.

Hope you enjoy these.

Thanks, Guys. I had just gotten a new wide angle lens last weekend and this was my first attempt at using it, although the African Gray was taken with a telephoto.

The water refection was a nice surprise on my card when I downloaded. You just never know sometimes how things are going to turn out.

Love the orange hibiscus! Reminds me of home in sunny CA. I, too, live in IA (4 years now), and agree about this cold! It is unbearable! But your photos were warming to the soul

Hoping it warms soon. How did you ever adjust coming from CA? I've lived here all my life and can barely tolerate it.

Thanks, Shellie. The birds were really fun and it was funny what posers they turned out to be. But I could tell when they'd had enough. They turned and faced the other way.

It was a big change, for sure! But I'm finding the longer we've been out here, the more sissy I've become! I used to wear my flip-flops thru winter (unless I was going to actually be IN the snow - then I would wear shoes or boots), but now, my toes can't handle anything below 50 degrees. Can't wait for spring & summer to come back - winter makes for difficult shooting opportunities (mainly bc I don't want to venture out in the snow & cold!)
