Hi Neil,
first of all "Welcome to a great site and a fantastic community" I hope you enjoy your time here. Now then, I understand the reason behind the "Moodier Image" but I feel that these are just plain too dark rather than moody. Having seen me in the mirror for almost 50 years I am not brave enough to try a self portrait but you have nothing to fear, how about a little lighter and going black and white? and maybe crop the image in to give more detail on you? I look forward to seeing more soon. Thank you for sharing these images. Take Care, David.

Think cropping maybe a good idea David, the lighting to be honest is what I was after as it was the only light around the enviroment I am in and to be honest the enviroment I am constantly in. Therefore thought it might of come across quite well.

I can see you point Neil but just try the cropping and see how it takes you
Of the two images I like the first one more as I can see more of your face and thats how folks will judge you I'm afraid. A nice tight crop of you and a little darkness around the edge might just do the trick. I admire your bravery, go for it mate.David.

Nice shot, Neil. I like 'em. I like the eyes...very expressive with the wrinkle between. Well done in the low light! TFS

Neil, these are great. I think you have captured your "mood" shot very well. Self portraits are always scary things. I did some of myself recently just to pass that "barrier" - didnt turn out too bad - I just made sure husband and child were away when I did them - definately not the side of the camera I am confortable with LOL.
Anyway, well done. Lighting is great, mood is awesome, facials are great. WELL DONE.
