Default Travel leads to interesting photographs

Or, at least, I hope it does. Here are a few shots taken while my wife and I were in England.

Thistle and Barrow
This thistle was in a field with a Barrow Mound, which you can see in the background. A few hundred yards behind me was Stonehenge - jam packed with tourists. I'm not sure about the vignette on this one... any suggestions? Keep it? Lose it?

SalisburyCathedral
This was the ceiling of one of the chapels in Salisbury Cathedral. The low light made it quite hard to get a decent shot, but I'm pretty happy with this one.

Old Battle Standards
Another shot from inside Salisbury Cathedral. These were retired flags, the oldest of which were just tatters, so faded that you could see through them.

Angels play cymbals too
Finally, a shot from Christchurch Cathedral, which was even gloomier and harder to shoot than Salisbury. I was wishing I'd brought a tripod. Even with a high ISO I was getting some camera movement, which is why it looks a little soft.

This is a great set. I'm no pro but I really like the vignette on the first one. Also, your cathedral shot is amazing. I'd agree that travel definitely leads to interesting photographs.

Wonderful shots. I really like the stained glass in the Catherdral. The vignette works well with the thistle, I'd keep it myself.

Thanks for your comments. I'll keep the vignette on the thistle. And yes, the cathedral was spectacular. Definitely worth a day trip to see Salisbury.

Great shots - really like #1 & #2. Good choice on NOT bringing the tripod; which is a pain to travel with. High ISO and VR usually are good enough for the cathedral shots...or steadying the camera on the back of a pew. Thanks for sharing.
