Default Christmas in Salt Lake City...

Well...I did it. I decided to head downtown and shoot all my pics in manual mode! I'm hooked! Playing with long exposures and wasting perfectly good X's and O's on bad shots is WAY more fun than shooting in auto mode! Good thing X's and O's are free!!

Anywho...here is a sampling of my 3-hour photoshoot from Temple Square last night. I've uploaded many more in my Picasa Album. Let me know what you think! As always they're much better in full resolution.

My goal was to get as many lights in this one shot as I possibly could. I think I accomplished my task! Haha!

Well...it's not really "Christmasy", but I liked how this shot turned out. This is the old Council Hall building that sits in front of the Capital building. I learned that it's really hard to focus on a building that's hardly visible in the darkness of night, but the long exposures make it worthwhile if you can get it right!

Beautiful set of pics....I love the first one and how you used the tree branch as a frame. Nice job.

Great Shots, any one could be a Christmas card! I couldn't pick a favorite! Last time I was in Salt Lake in the winter, I was sitting in my truck at a stop light not far from the temple and a local came slipsliding down the street in her car and hit me. luckly but the time the collision happened she had slowed it to a crawl.
Thanks for sharing these

Gorgeous shots! I am a big fan of night time photography. Been to a few temple grounds but never at night
